We planted out the last of the cabbage starts for the year early last week.
Winnie didn’t want to, because she wanted to go with Mommy in the car, not with Daddy in the truck.
Fortunately, a ride in the wheelbarrow can still make her feel better.
The cabbages now cover about 2/3 of the 70 foot row.
We have been having more slug pressure than usual, so we put down some sluggo. Usually don’t have to worry about that in the summer time, but this year has been different. One of the cabbages has had the top layer of leaves eaten clean off by slugs, so it is time for some action.
We also harvested the last of the cannellini beans and seeded down that section of the row with a cover crop. This will keep the soil from running off in the winter rains, and hopefully make a good green manure come spring.
