Our Soil, remodel

Widening the Driveway

This was last week. I don’t remember what day, but with the remodel getting ready to get underway and CiderFest coming up in a month, we need to widen out the driveway and free up some driving/parking space. We got that big load of logs this summer, which still hadn’t split and stacked itself. Now that Adam has his RV parked next to the shop, this makes the driveway very narrow to get back to the barn area.

And the pasture hasn’t fully recovered from the drought yet, so we had to buy another load of hay.

Once I got the hay back to the farm, I had to split and haul a couple of logs to make the driveway wide enough.

All that work so that I could back the truck up to the barn.

Rather than carry the bales 30 yards.

I only had to carry them 3-5 yards.

Seppi came and joined in with some man work. He helped chain up the two big stumps and drag them out into the pasture.

Here they will form the basis of a large hugelkulture, which hopefully we will build this winter.
