Hold Fasts

With the arrival of the Hold Fasts from Grammercy Tools, our work horses are now complete!

As others have said in online forums, we had to rough up the shaft a bit with sandpaper to improve the friction in the hole. I also had to plane the bench top a little flatter, but once we did that it worked perfectly.

Simply set the piece of work on the bench and drop the hold fast so the flat part sits on the workpiece, or on a spacer to protect the workpiec.

Then administer a “vigorous tap” to the top of the bent portion of the hold fast.

And just like that, held fast! You’ll pull the workbench over before you pull the work out.
