Harvest time is always busy on the farm. Plants mature, fruit and veggies are ready when they are reay with little to no concern for what we have going on in our non-gardening lives.

Tuesday was a good example of that. Beans and blackberries are both coming in hardcore, but this is also the weekend of the Pierce County Fair, which means the older girls and Mommy will be busy with 4H, (as will Daddy when he is not working). So we stripped the beans and picked two buckets (roughly 5 quarts each) of blackberries.

Of course, when we got home after all of the other chores, there was still a lot of work to be done. The two younger kids were dirty-birdies, so they had to go in the bath so the two older girls got to work juicing the blackberries and putting all the beans in jars…

So that when Mommy got home from work she could pressure can them.
But when she got home, there was a puddle leaking out from under the sink. One of the sink drains sprang a leak. So Daddy had to drive to Home Depot to get a replacement part. Late night. But we got it all done.
