The ducks built a little nest in their duck-mobile! Not in the nesting box, but still, it's a start! Unfortunately, someone set the refrigerator on its coldest setting by accident. Half a dozen duck eggs, frozen.

Duck Eggs!
Some time last week: Mommy: "The ducks are checking out the duckmobile! The two white ones were even going in the laying boxes!" Later that day: Seppi was upset that Winnie was using HIS yellow wheelbarrow. Until I told him he was big enough to use the big green one! Then it was a race!… Continue reading Duck Eggs!
Duckmobile
This is a project that has been in the works for the last 6 weeks, having been interrupted by nearly everything else for most of that time. As with so many other projects, it starts with a frame built from 2x4's. I know 2x2's are lighter, and more than adequate for housing ducks, but still,… Continue reading Duckmobile
Bird-Mobile

It is time to get them out on grass, but we don't fancy the attrition rate we had last year with the chickshaw only. We would… Continue reading Bird-Mobile
The Second Shade Mobile
The last shade mobile we built had a door. This is because, eventually, we plan on enclosing it in chicken wire and putting chickens in it. The Sheep Shelter

Ellie was sent to go get a roll of wire from the barn. Apparently she needed Seppi and a wheelbarrow to bring it… Continue reading The Sheep Shelter
Mobile Shelters
There are two main issues with keeping animals on pasture all year around here. One is the heat and dryness for 3 months every summer. The other is the cold and wetness for 9 months every winter. Other than that, it's a cinch. Since our pasture doesn't have any trees (yet) we are constructing mobile… Continue reading Mobile Shelters
