homeschool, Our Workshop

Tuesday

Tuesday was a school day at the farm. Seppi finished his school right away (being in Kindergarten).

So he and Winnie had to be spoken to sternly about sword-fighting in the school area.

There is a whole play room to play in, but in the school room around the easily distracted siblings is a much more fun place to sword fight.

This is the part where we just kick them outside.

We spent an hour cutting the broken legs off the meishan’s feed trough, and wiring it to the fence so they will stop tipping it over and shoving it around their yard.

Winnie helped clean up the parts of the feed trough, because she is “So strong!”

And this is why all shovels on our farm need metal handles.

Evie measuring this gap for a gate. If we close this gap off, we can let the cows and sheep out in the area between the barn and the shop, without them gorging on alfalfa.

We also put together a new toy.

This is a pivot arm crane that attaches to the hitch on the back of the pick-up truck.

We bought it to help out with slaughter so we have a place to hang the critters to raise and lower them for skinning and gutting.

This was Evie’s birthday, and she was overjoyed to find it hailing in the afternoon.

But it really took off at supper time. The temperature dropped to 32 degrees, and the hail/snow/rain mix started sticking.

Unfortunately we had to tell the kids they couldn’t go outside and play in the slush. Parents are such a drag.
