“Daddy! Daddy!”
“Yes, Winnie?”
“Daddy! I paused my dame! I paused my dame!”

Daddy: “Okay, Winnie. Why did you pause your game?”
“Betause I need to div you a tiss!”

Good reason! (And no, it is not a video game that she “paused.” I am not sure what game she was playing, but the apron was a critical part of the game.)
Trying to get brackets on the T-posts to help support the new fence. Without them, the fence hangs on its own weight which causes it to bow outwards in the middle, and will eventually stretch the wires unevenly. Started at 1:15 in the afternoon, because of peed bedding needing to run through the laundry first thing in the morning. Things have a way of snowballing around here. One delay leads to another, and next thing you know, you don’t get to that urgent task until after lunch.

340 feet to go.

One hour in. It is slow going, not because it is hard work, but because it is tedious. Learning from the fence in the north pasture, which has bowed out a bit in the last year, I am adding 5 brackets per post instead of three. The reason the north pasture fence has bowed out is because Iris insists on scratching herself on the fence. Ordinarily this would not be a problem, as woven wire fencing is designed to be set up so that animals rubbing against it pushes it more firmly into the knobs on the T-posts. However, we run animals on both sides of the fence, so half the time when she is scratching against it, she is pushing it away from the T-posts. When I get the time I am going to reinforce that fence as well by adding extra T-post brackets.

After about an hour and a half I reached the first gate.

Hung the gate.

Made it about 3/4 of the way by 3:30. Had to call it quits at this point, because the hooligans need to be fed, so time to break and make supper.

6 or 7 posts to go.
