Daddy: “Ellie, do you want a job that involves sitting in the shade?”
Ellie: “Sure!”
Daddy: “We need to cut the blossoms off these chamomile plants.”
Ellie: “I’ll use my knife.”

If you are wondering where our seven-year-old got a knife, she made it herself.

It’s a stick she sharpened on Daddy’s grinding wheel. She explained that it was for close in fighting (you know, when she is defending Redwall from vermin hordes) but she can use it for harvesting too.

Worked perfectly.

Freckles.
The chamomile will be dried and used for tea this winter.
We tried a garlic honey ferment.

One head of garlic, peeled and washed.

Mashed in a half-pint jar.

Filled with honey and set to ferment on the top of the piano. We’ll see how it goes. One of our friends from homeschool makes this and it is absolutely fantastic.

And what goodness is going on here?

Come to Lord’s Day at the farm tonight and find out!
