If you don’t grow potatoes, I wish you would.
If for no other reason, than the opportunity to experience digging potatoes with a small person. It’s as much fun as an easter egg hunt. Actually, it is more fun than an easter egg hunt, because the grownup can actually take part in it.

The gloves make her feel grownup.
How is that for fun?
We mostly dug “volunteer” potatoes, plants that sprang up in beds from potatoes left after harvest last year. These are small, what we call “New Potatoes.” They are the simplest potatoes in the world to cook. They do not even need to be peeled, just wash them, drop them in a pot of salt water, and boil until fork tender. Then drain them, slather them in butter, and enjoy them. I promise they are unlike any potatoes you have ever had in your whole life.
