We are moving into the last week of raising this crop of meat ducks. They are averaging over seven pounds now. God willing we will be butchering some of them on Thursday and the rest on Saturday.
Why is Ellie so cranky? “Because you made it too hot out here!”
Ellie is not the only one thinking it is too hot out here these days (for the record, it’s only about 75 degrees so far).
The ducks are blazing through the water as fast as we can keep it full. Part of that is because they just like splashing in it as much as they like drinking in it.
Plus, with the yard hydrant 100 feet away, it takes time or two people to refill their water efficiently.
So after a quick trip to the farm store we got a hose end and a 15 gallon stock tank.
The ducks took to that like a duck to water.
