Last year we had issues with the wheat getting too tall and falling over, so this year we decided to get ahead of it and set up a trellis.

This is a very simple structure, just a set of T-posts every ten feet down both sides of the row. On the right hand side, (west) we had to be careful about placing these, and dig down for each one to make sure we weren’t driving the posts into the water line that runs down the west side of each row.
Then a single strand of line run from post to post (I used the line that we used to set up the rows, simply raised it about a foot off the ground.)
This should keep the wheat upright, for now. As it gets taller we will just run more lines as needed.
