Weather on Tuesday was what Koreans call 호랑이 장가가는 날. (Ho-rang-i chang-ga ga-nin nal, literally translated means “the day of going to the tiger’s wedding” but is an idiom for a day with clouds, rain and sunshine all together).
After a rainy morning the sun came out brilliantly at lunch time, so I decided to try to knock out one of our ongoing tasks, that of finishing the gutters on the chicken house.
This was going brilliantly for about fifteen minutes, then, suddenly, the sky went from sunny, to cloudy, to sprinkling, to torrential downpour in the space of about 5 minutes.

As we learned last December, hanging gutters solo is hard. Hanging gutters solo in the wind, is harder. Hanging gutters solo in the wind and rain, impossible. So I abandoned the attempt in disgust.
But then, 20 minutes later…

It remained sunny, but with little one-minute rain squalls blowing through for the rest of the afternoon.

Got the gutter on one side hung by 4 PM, but without a downspout. Unfortunately, had to take a break at that point to go get the baby ducklings.
Go back to it after supper though, and got the downspout and the trough on.

One more gutter and downspout to go! I will have to climb up in the summer time to seal the gap between the roof overhang and the gutter. That’s going to take a lot of silicone, but will keep the water from runny back up under the metal of the roof. Note to self, next time I put on a steel roof, allow about an inch more of overhang.
