Let’s see how the tomatoes are doing in their little house.

Look at this…

Happy little ‘mater plant in there.

Look at him just growing away.
But that was before we sowed sunflower seeds.

Two days later…

All the tomatoes are looking great except the two closest to the water riser. Those have been trampled or gnawed, and…

Hard to see in this picture, but the area on the right that was a tomato plant is now a collection of sunflower seed shells. The sunflower bed is also thick with sunflower shells and as far as I can see, no seeds intact.

We had also planted onion sets, green beans and cannellini beans. A few of the cannellini beans had been dug up and nibbled on.

Brussels sprouts and other brassicas are starting to recover from transplant shock and look alive.

The wheat is almost two feet tall. In no time I am going to have to put T-posts in to run twine to support them so they don’t fall over into the row.
Also, we set a trap at the entrance to this little hole, and something snapped it, but didn’t get caught. I expect it’s a vole. That little pest ate the heck out of our carrots and beets the first year we were gardening here. Got to find a way to get rid of it.
