While we don’t have an active garden at the house anymore (we barely have time for the one garden at the farm) Ellie still cares about her little flower bed at the end of the orchard.

Still looks pretty wintery, but…

There are some buds on some of the trees. Especially this little Hollywood Plum. You can see the effect of microclimate on this plum tree. Only the parts that get sunlight over the hedge have budded yet. Hopefully the blossoms don’t all get blown off in a gale or frozen in a late frost this year.

Ellie went out and weeded the grass out of her little flowerbed this week, all by herself without being reminded. So we got her some spring bulbs from Costco.

Not sure they actually need to be watered in, given how rainy it has been, but Winnie enjoys it, and it probably doesn’t hurt.
