Fun fact about our potatoes this year. The best yield we got were from volunteers, plants that sprouted from potatoes left in the ground from last year. Not sure why. Possibly Yukons are just more prolific than Butterballs; perhaps the fact that they were in the ground over the winter, cool but not frozen, damp but not sodden, gave them a head start. Who knows?
So this year we are trying an experiment with next year’s potatoes.

I put ten potatoes in the row and buried them in fallen leaves. Over the next few weeks I will bury that leaf layer in muck from the cows and sheep, and then cover that in dirt. We will see how that does compared to potatoes planted in February and March.
Lots of projects in the queue for this winter. Unfortunately, not a lot of time is in the queue for them.
