Measure twice, cut once.

The pump for our rainwater catchment system is an inline RainFlo MHP75A Automatic Booster pump. The idea is that it will pump water from the catchment tank to the water lines that feed the pasture. Obviously, this means that the pump needs to be mounted on a sturdy surface, and additionally, the place that it is going is underground, against the back wall of the shop. This means we have to house it in a fairly sturdy box which will withstand water for many years without rotting, and will prevent dirt from under the shop pad from settling down against it and crushing the sides.

Ergo, pressure treated 2×8.

It needs a hole drilled for the inlet pipe coming from the catchment tank.

Then Seppi tightens the pipe in the end of the pump.

Winnie will just make sure it’s actually tight.

Putting the lid together.

Hammering! One of Seppi’s favorite things to do, right up there with digging!

All put together and ready to go. Now, to see if it fits.
