Our Water

Putting in the Conduit

We continue the electrical/plumbing project behind the shop, a little at a time, as we have an hour here or there. We really should try to hit it hard this weekend, but it is always hard to get time away from all the urgent things to get to the farming.

We have deepened and widened part of the trench behind the barn to fit a (very hefty) box that will hold the pump. The reason it is made out of pressure treated lumber instead of just a plastic pump box is because we need a solid platform to bolt the pump to, and because we want it to hold the fill under the shop floor in place solidly so there is no settling of the pad.

On the other end of the trench we experimented with ways to arrange the conduit. Seppi enjoyed pulling the 550 cord through the pieces of conduit. The 550 cord is so that we have a way to pull the wire through once we buy that.

This was our first attempt.

Not the 90 degree junction box used as a coupling.

Our electrician friend did not approve. Apparently they are not supposed to be below ground.

He liked this one a lot better. So we put a cover on it to keep the rain out until we can back to working on it over the weekend.
