Hay There!

Well, Hay There! How you doing?

Papa and Deedee have a three acre field behind their house that grows a heap of grass every year. This year they told us we could have the hay off of it, if we paid someone to bale it. Papa found and old friend of his willing to cut and bale such a small field. He cut it early this week and baled it for us on Thursday. Daddy had switched shifts with another provider, so he had Friday off. So as a family, we had a…

Hay Day!

Ol’ Faithful, ready to go!

Although, Papa’s blue truck makes Daddy’s blue truck look like an under-powered spring chicken.

Buckin’ them bales, It’s Mama!

There is an exercise that crossfitters and strong men like called the Farmer’s Carry.

Turns out it’s actually a good way to carry things on the farm too. Who knew?

Evie was employed for the first half as official recorder and photographer. She has been practicing for her 4H projects, and she is getting much better.

Stack that trailer to the rafters! Then Mommy and Daddy drove down to the farm when Uncle Adam unloaded and Daddy stacked the hay in the barn.

When we got back up to pick up the second load, it was time for Evie to be promoted to her new job…

Driver.

She loved it! Hasn’t stopped talking about it since. Bless her heart, and it made Papa’s day too. That’s how Mommy learned to drive, a few years ago.

When not driving she still managed to take some interesting pictures.

Daddy likes this picture.

Riding back to the house. I love it when we get to work together. We make a great team.

We should hang out, sometime.

The bales tossed off to the side are the old dry ones from last summer. They will get fed out first. We also have to put a tarp over the east end of the barn to keep the wind and rain off the hay this winter.

And there you have it folks. A good family day, all too rare, so we enjoy them when we get them.

Now on to the next adventure!
