It has been a busy week or two since coming back from National Guard. Busy in good ways, but not necessarily on the farm. Not, at any rate, projects that make good blog posts. A lot of our spare time has been spent doing things as a family as much as possible. But, looking through my phone I find a bunch of random pictures, enough for a ketchup post.

Just kidding. Here we go…

Raspberries are in! Mommy and Ellie have been busy with them. Ellie made raspberry mango jam that she is entering into the Pierce Co. Fair in a few weeks.

Cooking down the jam on the stovetop.
The rules say that the jar has to have a label with ingredients and processing details, and the source of the recipe. So Mommy printed off a label with her handy label maker.

All ready to go!
Mommy squeezoed another batch to make raspberry jam.

Winnie is pretty sure this is a food thing for Winnie!
The trailer electrical system has been acting up recently. Not sure how it happened. Seppi and Daddy tried to fix it before doing a dump run.

Pretty sure that one or more of these wires are spliced wrong.

Started out thinking these two were the culprits.

Seppi and I un-spliced them…

re-spliced them and voila!

Nothing changed. The brakes still lock up whenever you put the truck in reverse. So that didn’t work. We will have to make time to dig into it deeper in the next couple of weeks.
Another project here. Evie has been asking if we could repair this doll cradle for a long time now. We just haven’t gotten to it. Finally got around to cleaning up some of the junk in the shop and we pulled this out, and Daddy and Evie cobbled together a bottom for it.

Measured, cut, put together, stained and installed.

Meanwhile, the other kids were getting to work tearing apart some old bookshelves that we inherited with the farm.

We re-arranged these to make a bench, coat rack and shelf for Mommy to change her boots at when she comes to the farm to do chores.

Seppi got a birthday present from Grandma:
Money to buy a tree. (When she asked him what he wanted for his birthday he told her he wanted a tree. So she got him a tree.)

He chose an Oregon oak. Not sure where we’re going to put that.

Other miscellany: The cousins have their own miniature bee-keeping suits, so they can help out with the bees now.
Did I mention we have berries? This mulberry was planted two months ago!

That’s all for now!
God bless!
