Time is running out before daddy hast to leave for National Guard for a couple weeks. Time is also running out before the hot and dry season is upon us. Trying not to repeat the mistakes of last year, where we lost a number of orchard plants due to drought,we are working on getting all of the plants bedded down with cardboard and wood chips to keep the moisture around their roots all summer long.
Four grapes and four mulberries done this morning.
"I only remember the very first part of the book where he described the man of steel and velvet and I remember the deep chord that phrase struck. I remember the image I had of a hand of living steel wearing a velvet glove, a hand that could crush or caress, strike a killing blow or wipe away tears, lift mountains or cradle an infant. The rest of the book was an afterthought."
From an essay about Aubrey Andelin's "Man of Steel and Velvet".
