We got out to the pasture after school was finished on Monday.
Determined to get the trench finished this time. Only 40 feet to clear, but this part was tricky because it had to go over and around the weird extended leg of the septic system (yes, that’s right. They ran the septic line all the way out and put the drain field in the very back of the pasture).
Hard digging, lots of rocks, and the last few feet had to go through the blackberries to shoot under the fence, but…
We got it done!

"I only remember the very first part of the book where he described the man of steel and velvet and I remember the deep chord that phrase struck. I remember the image I had of a hand of living steel wearing a velvet glove, a hand that could crush or caress, strike a killing blow or wipe away tears, lift mountains or cradle an infant. The rest of the book was an afterthought."
From an essay about Aubrey Andelin's "Man of Steel and Velvet".
