I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and family!
With yesterdays turkey carcass simmering on the stove with onions, carrots, celery and bay leaves, the house is filled with the smell of fresh turkey stock. Later today I will be straining and canning this up for use later use in soups.

The kids are sitting in the kitchen cutting out ALL the paper snowflakes and talking about how next year they are going to raise their own turkey.


Raising our own turkeys will require research and close management. We have been following fellow small farms who raised turkey this year, they had the problem of having turkeys get too large, some up to 49 lbs!

We will keep everyone posted on if we decide to indulge the kids and raise turkey. They sure would look nice in the pasture…we shall see.
